Return to: Non-Degree Programs
The Women’s and Gender Studies (WGS) Certificate Program is designed to engage students in an interdisciplinary field of study which analyzes the phenomenon of gender through a lens of intersectionality, including race, class, sexuality, and location. The focus on interdisciplinary studies also allows students to study the significance of gender theory, research, and practice, while understanding “gender” as a social construction referring to femininities and masculinities.
Program Requirements
A minimum of 16 units are required for the certificate.
Coursework
Students may select any courses relevant to Women’s and Gender Studies. Electives may be selected from the CGU Schedule of Classes or from the curricular offerings of the Intercollegiate Feminist Center of the Claremont Colleges with the prior approval of the program director and the student’s faculty advisor.
