WGS 301 - Introduction to Women’s & Gender Studies This course is a highly theoretical introduction to some of the key historical and current theoretical concepts in women and gender studies from transnational and interdisciplinary perspectives as informed by diverse communities. Feminists in globalized economies located around the world are challenged to think and organize transnationally. To meet this challenge, one needs a nuanced approach to the construction of one’s own identity (including its internal contradictions, multiplicities, and instabilities) and a facility with concepts by which to think about difference, language, politics, and activism. This course counts towards the Women and Gender Studies certificate. Units: 4 Course Type: Seminar
