Arizona State University

The ASU-CGU 4+1 Master of Public Health (MPH) program is graduate pathway that allows ASU students to begin taking graduate-level courses and earning graduate credit as early as their sophomore year. These credits can be applied toward a master’s degree, which is awarded only after the bachelor’s degree is completed.

Please note: Students cannot graduate with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree at the same time. This pathway is designed to jumpstart the master’s degree—not complete it while enrolled at an undergraduate institution.

Eligible ASU Undergraduate Degrees

  • Health Sciences, BS – College of Health Solutions
  • Global Health, BA – The College
  • Public Service and Public Policy, BS – Watts College
  • International Public Health, BIPH – College of Health Solutions
  • Public Health, BS – College of Health Solutions (Immersion Program)

How the Program Works

  1. Apply Early. Apply for a master’s program through the ASU-CGU 4+1 Master of Public Health Program Application – typically during the junior year – for a future semester. A fast-track application process with limited application requirements will apply for ASU students who meet a 2.79 GPA or higher. Those who fall below the min GPA requirement will submit a resume, statement of purpose, and three letters of recommendation.
  2. Register for Courses. Students will coordinate a course plan in consultation with their undergraduate advisor and complete up to 15 pre-approved transfer eligible units.
  3. Earn a Bachelor’s degree. Students must earn their ASU bachelor’s degree and provide an updated official transcript to the CGU Admissions Office prior to enrolling in the graduate degree at CGU.
  4. Receive Graduate Program Credit. Students will consult with their CGU academic advisor to file the necessary paperwork to apply any coursework completed at ASU to their graduate CGU program.
  5. Enroll at CGU. Students will formally begin their academic career as a CGU student by enrolling in courses, selected in consultation with their academic advisor.
