Foundations in Public Health, Certificate


The public health graduate certificate provides students with the fundamental skills and knowledge central to each of the five core areas of public health—social and behavioral health, epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, and health systems. The certificate program is intended for various audiences, including allied working professionals and students in affiliated graduate programs within the Claremont Consortium. Courses completed with at least a B or better while in the certificate program may be applied toward completion of the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree.

Program Requirements

Coursework.  The certificate requires a minimum of 20 units, or five courses, as indicated below.

  • CGH 300C- Theoretical Foundations of Health Promotion & Education
  • CGH 301C- Biostatistics
  • CGH 302C– Epidemiology
  • CGH 303C– Health Services in the US and Abroad
  • CGH 304C– Environmental and Occupational Health
