PSYCH 416C - Professional Doctorate Capstone (PsyD + D.Eval) I Professional Doctorate Capstone is designed for advanced students in the Doctor of Evaluation Practice (D.Eval) and Doctor of Organizational Psychology (PsyD) programs who are transitioning from their portfolio or practicum work to the capstone phase of their doctoral studies. This course provides a structured, collaborative space for developing and refining capstone project proposals that demonstrate mastery of professional and scholarly practice.
D.Eval students will focus on designing their capstone culminating project proposals, laying the groundwork for their meta-evaluation integration papers through literature synthesis, methodological planning, and topic refinement . PsyD students who have completed their portfolios will use this course to begin developing their capstone projects—defining organizational challenges, selecting evidence-based approaches, and aligning their work with the program’s applied and research-based capstone options .
Through guided milestones, peer exchange, and faculty feedback, students will strengthen their ability to conceptualize, design, and communicate rigorous applied projects. Course activities emphasize proposal development, ethical and methodological considerations, and scholarly writing that bridges academic and professional audiences. Guest faculty will support students in refining topics, articulating evaluation or research frameworks, and preparing for committee engagement and proposal submission.
By the end of the course, students will have developed a comprehensive, committee-ready capstone proposal or made substantial progress toward the completion of an approved project, demonstrating readiness for the final capstone implementation phase. Units: 2 Enrollment is exclusive to students who have previously passed PSYCH 416A and PSYCH 416B. Course Type: Seminar
