PSYCH 416A - Professional Doctorate Practice (PsyD + D.Eval) A

Professional Doctorate Practice A is the first course in a two-part sequence designed for students in the Doctor of Evaluation Practice (D.Eval) and Doctor of Organizational Psychology (PsyD) programs. This course offers a collaborative and structured environment where students begin developing the applied components of their doctoral milestones. D.Eval students establish the foundation of their professional practice portfolios as reflective expressions of their professional identities, while PsyD students develop proposals for their collaborative practicum projects—conducting organizational needs assessments, identifying evidence-based solutions, and planning evaluation strategies.

Course activities emphasize reflective practice, goal-setting, and professional communication. Students engage in learning experiences around writing for academic and applied audiences, exploring transdisciplinary perspectives, and developing strategies for effective project and portfolio design. Guest speakers and workshops highlight professional development and applied research resources, including academic writing, library support, and the use of AI tools to enhance applied and scholarly work.

By the end of the course, students will have developed a clear proposal for their applied work or made substantial progress on their professional portfolios, set measurable goals, and built the skills and structures necessary to confidently advance toward their degree milestones.
