ARMGT 300 - Introduction to Arts Management

This course explores the theories, processes, and practices behind the management of arts organizations. Practical applications will focus on developing the skills necessary to manage arts organizations including mission delivery, public engagement, governance and organizational structure, arts program development, and working with artists. Site visits and meetings with arts leaders will add diverse perspectives about the complexities of managing arts organizations of various sizes and governance structures, and promote dialogue about the challenges arts administrators face in their roles. Over the course of the semester, students will apply classroom learning to develop the structure and framework for a unique arts organization.
