Academic Program

The primary mission of the undergraduate Intercollegiate Department of Chicano/a Latino/a Studies is the pursuit of knowledge of mestizo peoples in order to promote the intellectual growth of students and the development of their social consciousness.

Examples of Courses Offered

CGU applicants and current students should note that most of the following representative courses are offered at the undergraduate Claremont Colleges. Only upper-division undergraduate courses may be taken for graduate credit, with faculty approval:

  • Interpreting the Mexican Revolution
  • Chicano Movement Literature
  • Chicanas and Latinas in the U.S.
