Public Health, MPH

Concurrent Enrollment. The School of Community & Global Health and the Department of Population Health Science at Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (WesternU/COMP) offer a dual enrollment program, which allows WesternU/COMP students to complete a Doctor of Ostiopathic Medicine (DO) and Master of Public Health (MPH) concurrently. Graduates of the dual DO-MPH program will be uniquely qualified to make an impact on the health and well-being of individuals and communities. Graduates with the DO-MPH dual degree will be further prepared to assume leadership roles in a variety of non-profit, governmental, and advocacy organizations as well as academic institutions at the local, state, national, and international levels.
Entrepreneurship, Certificate (Professional)

Defy Ventures and the Drucker School of Managment have partnered to provide current and formerly incarcerated students with a certificate in entrepreneurship to help them successfully transition back into their communities.
This non-credit-bearing certificate recognizing the successful completion of Defy’s “Entrepreneurship Bootcamp.” The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp is a 14-week instructor-led course delivered online or in-person. The program introduces Entrepreneurs-in-Training (“EITs”) to entrepreneurship discipline along with key personal development tools that are important for entrepreneurial success. The program includes coaching from volunteers in the business community. Prior to admission to the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, prospective Bootcamp EITs must demonstrate that they have stable housing and employment (or other form of basic income). Any formerly incarcerated individual who meets basic admissions requirements is invited to join the program at no cost.

The Center for Information Systems and Technology (CISAT) along with the School of Community and Global Health (SCGH) of Claremont Graduate University offer a joint degree program in Health Information Systems & Technology. The program provide students with the tools and skills needed to develop, manage, and support health information technology systems, and to work in a variety of health IT positions. The program will emphasize the following key skills: data analysis, data mining, software development, communications and project management.

Public Sector Leadership, Certificate (Professional)

This professional certificate is offered by CGU’s Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management and the Drucker Institute, in partnership with Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL). Upon completion of the program, participants will be awarded a certificate of completion by Claremont Graduate University and the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management and co-branded with the Drucker Institute and ELGL. No academic, transferrable credit is awarded for the program. The curriculum is hosted on Claremont Graduate University’s Canvas platform and delivered through a combination of remote, live sessions; independent work by participants; and small-group interactions.
The program consists of a series of modules over roughly a six-month time frame. Each module unfolds over three weeks, opening with a live, 90-minute learning session facilitated by the Drucker Institute’s Director of Public Sector Engagement, who is the primary contact for program participants and will evaluate homework and answers questions. He may be joined by colleagues from all three partner organizations, as well as thought leaders and expert practitioners. Participants are expected to join at least three of the live sessions, which will be recorded and uploaded to Canvas for those who cannot attend synchronously. Each live session will include a practical tool that participants will use to turn concents from the lesson into practices in the workplace. There may be supplemental, optional live sessions with guest presenters and facilitators.

School of Community and Global Health (SCGH) Practical Experience Milestone

Students pursing a public health degree (Master of Public Health or Doctor of Public Health) must meet the Practical Experience Milestone by completing an applied practice experience through an internship or practicum within a public health agency (paid or unpaid, for credit or not for credit).
Students must have their milestone approved by the School prior to the submission of their completed Final Approval Form. This milestone is to be completed during the time to degree at CGU (7 years for doctoral students, 5 years for masters students). Students may have a maximum of 4 years of experience for the Practical Experience Milestone.
