3. There must be a person responsible for supervising the student at the external site.

4. A full-time student is expected to spend a minimum of 10 hours per week at the site. Part-time students who have jobs are expected to spend a minimum of 5 hours on site.

5. An initial overview of the internship project will be submitted by the student to the faculty member. This is to ensure scope and relevancy. The project must be related to Healthcare Informatics topics ideally utilizing the contents learned from the MHIM coursework.

6. A report is due at the end of the term. The report will present the work performed, goals achieved, and what was learned. This report must be signed off by both the external site supervisor and a SISAT faculty member/ advisor.

7. It is expected that the internship will be completed in one semester’s time (15 weeks).

For those students who already work within a medical environment (such as hospitals, clinics, etc.), you have the option of doing a practicum project in SISAT in conjunction with a faculty member. You will then submit a project report at the end of the semester which would be graded.
