Advanced Study of Evaluation, Certificate
|
|
Return to: School of Behavioral and Organizational Sciences
This primarily distance-based program is designed for evaluators with experience in the field. Advanced methodologies for conducting evaluation and the intersection of evaluation theory and research with on-the-ground practice are covered in depth. The program culminates with a practicum experience tailored to the current practice or research interests of each student.
Prospective students will meet with Evaluation Faculty (a conference call for those outside the area) to design a program of study. Experienced evaluators with prior graduate courses and university-based professional development training may be able to complete this certificate in a relatively short period of time (e.g., 2 semesters), mostly from a distant location.

Components of the Program
Residency-Based Evaluation Courses
Note:
These 6 units are frequently transferred in for students having completed previous graduate education. Distance-Based Evaluation Courses
Those who have entered the program with prior graduate training in quantitative analysis and research methodology are required to complete the following study components: Professional Development in Evaluation
Participants are required to participate in 36-40 hours of relevant professional development (generally, the equivalent of 5 or 6 full-day workshops) from an approved provider. Attendance of the American Evaluation Association Conference
Participation in the evaluation community is crucial to understanding the issues faced by professionals in the field today. Certificate program students gather once during their program for an annual reunion at the conference to meet with faculty and some program alumni face to face. Competency-Based Exam
The capstone of the program is a competency-based examination that takes place at the completion of all other requirements. |
