The Peter F. Drucker & Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management (Drucker School) provides a unique graduate management education and experience that is unique from other schools of management. The School is committed to developing and enriching tomorrow’s leaders by weaving Peter Drucker’s perspective of the liberal art of management throughout the entire Drucker School experience—this represents the Drucker Difference: ethical leadership and effective management.
Our goal is to develop graduates who have an unsurpassed understanding of management-related topics. Courses are constantly updated to reflect leading practices based upon the insights of our own faculty plus contributions from pre-eminent global management practitioners and other academic researchers. Drucker School students are challenged to develop a comprehensive analytical and technical skill set as well as a keen understanding of the practice of management and skills for effective leadership. In this context, we are widely recognized for academic rigor, exceptional teaching, and a highly personalized and supportive environment.
The Drucker School faculty, their research, teaching, and service reflect the core assets of the Drucker Difference. Our faculty is a team whose first and primary purpose is to enhance the professional lives of our students and through them to improve the organizations they lead. Teaching the liberal art of management brings us together with the reality of the world in which we live—our social, institutional, and intellectual history as well as our social and ethical responsibilities. We equip our students not only for the workplace realities of today, but also for the new realities of the global economy that awaits them tomorrow.
Admission Requirements
Applicants to the management program at the Drucker School must submit a completed application, application fee, GMAT score, official undergraduate and graduate school transcripts, a résumé, two letters of reference, and two personal statements. TOEFL or IELTS scores are required for applicants for whom English is not a native language and who do not hold a degree from a U.S. college or university. These students must submit the TOEFL or IELTS score in addition to the GMAT score. Complete information about admission is detailed in the Admission section of the Bulletin.
International students with scores below 100 on the TOEFL are required to either complete a non-credit graduate writing course at CGU or the summer International Fellows Program offered through Pitzer College. Students admitted to this program commence study in the summer semester prior to entering their programs in the fall. The Drucker School candidate is a well-rounded individual with highly-developed writing, analytical, and communication skills. Candidates usually possess three to five years of professional work experience and have completed the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree with a 3.0 grade point average. Ideally, they have demonstrated a superior verbal and mathematical skill set by scoring above 600 on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). Applicants who fall outside these parameters may be admitted due to outstanding personal qualities, supportive essays, letters of recommendation, and a personal interview. The ideal candidate will have made a positive impact in the communities and organizations they have served and demonstrate the motivation to do the same in their academic program.
Programs
Dual Degree Programs
CGU offers students the option of enrolling in a dual degree program–the opportunity to earn two degrees simultaneously. Complete details about dual degrees are provided in the Registration & Enrollment secrtion of the Bulletin.
Dual degree programs allow students to earn two degrees at less cost and time than would be the case if the degrees were pursued consecutively or individually. For a dual degree with the MBA, only 48 Drucker School units are required, with the remaining 12 units cross-counted from the other degree program. Established dual degree programs currently exist with the Master of Science in Information Systems & Technology and the Master of Public Health .
Concurrent Degree Programs with the MBA
Innovative Systems Design with Art Center College of Design. A collaboration between the Drucker School and Art Center College of Design offers students the opportunity to earn the MBA from CGU and a Master of Science in Industrial Design from Art Center. Applicants must be accepted by both institutions. CGU may accept up to 12 units from Art Center toward its MBA requirements. Art Center will accept up to eight Drucker units toward its 74-unit program.
JD/MBA with Southwestern Law School. The Drucker School and Southwestern Law School offer a concurrent degree program that helps Drucker and Southwestern students enhance their education and career options by earning an MBA from CGU and the Juris Doctorate (JD) from Southwestern Law School. The combination of legal training and management skills is increasingly in demand, and graduates of these programs should find enhanced career opportunities so as to make a positive difference in the areas of law and business.
MBS/MBA with Keck Graduate Institute. The Drucker School and Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) have partnered to develop the “Drucker/KGI 2+1 Program.” The 2+1 program combines the Master of Bioscience (MBS) degree at KGI with the MBA from CGU. The goal of the 2+1 program is to provide MBS students with additional business training in the areas of marketing, strategy and leadership.

The Peter F. Drucker & Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management offers a number of joint programs with faculty from other disciplines at CGU.
Accelerated BA/MA Program
Undergraduate students from The Claremont Colleges may apply to a BA/MA program offered in conjunction with Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Pitzer, Pomona, and Scripps colleges. During the last two years of their undergraduate programs, undergraduate students are increasingly immersed into graduate-level management courses. Upon completion of the bachelor’s degree, the student is admitted with full graduate standing to the MBA Program at CGU.
