Introduction
The mission of the School of Mathematical Sciences is to educate and prepare outstanding professionals and scientists to assume prominent positions in government, industry, and education. In support of this mission, we offer a variety of master’s and doctoral degrees, and maintain a strong applied research component through the Mathematics Clinic, which offers students first-hand experience in solving significant problems in applied mathematics for business and industry clients.
We accept both full-time and part-time students in our degree programs, with many courses scheduled at convenient times for working professionals. Because our programs offer both depth and breadth, they are unique among schools offering programs in mathematics in the greater Los Angeles area. We provide personalized education, viewing students as our greatest asset. No other graduate program can claim the range of benefits we offer in the mathematical sciences.
In addition to our regular degree programs in mathematics, we also participate in several partnerships with local universities and other CGU departments. These partnerships include a PhD program in Engineering and Industrial Applied Mathematics jointly offered with California State University, Long Beach, a PhD program in Computational Science jointly offered with San Diego State University, a PhD program in Computational and Systems Biology jointly offered with Keck Graduate Institute, and MS/PhD programs in Financial Engineering jointly offered with the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management. We encourage and support dual-degree programs in fields where applied mathematics can offer a stronger foundation or deeper understanding of principles.
The selection of a graduate program is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. We invite you to further explore our many programs in mathematical sciences and discover all the important reasons to choose the CGU School of Mathematical Sciences for your graduate education.
