SISAT’s PhD program prepares students to participate in the academic IS&T research community. PhD graduates from SISAT are prepared to conduct rigorous and relevant IS&T research, as well as, to apply what they know about IS&T research to teaching, consulting, and other activities.

IS&T Core Courses (20 units)
• IST 302 Database Concepts
• IST 303 Information Systems Analysis and Design (Software Development)
• IST 304 Communications and Networking
• IST 305 Management of IT
• IST 306 Delivering Business Value through IT Leadership
IS&T Specialization/ Concentration Courses (16 units)
Four IS&T courses equivalent to the elective courses that are permitted in SISAT’s master’s degrees.
IS&T Doctoral Research Seminars (20 units)
• IST 500 Introduction to IS&T Research
• IST 501 Research Methods for IS&T
• IST 502 IS&T Doctoral Seminar

Non-IS&T Elective Courses (20 units)

       Five non-IS&T courses, one of which is the required transdisciplinary course. Courses taught by SISAT faculty members, even those cross-listed as TNDY courses, will not fulfill the transdisciplinary course requirement for SISAT PhD students.)
