SISAT’s PhD program prepares students to participate in the academic IS&T research community. It is a demanding program focused on IS&T research. PhD graduates from SISAT are prepared to conduct rigorous and relevant IS&T research, as well as to apply what they know about IS&T research to teaching, consulting, and other activities.

• Organizations and IS&T (equivalent to IST 301)
• Programming (equivalent to IST 300)
• Quantitative Methods (equivalent to MGT 306)
IS&T Core Courses
• IS 302 Database Concepts
• IS 305 Information Systems Analysis and Design
• IS 306 Communications and Networking
• IS 328 Management of IT
• IS 329 Delivering Business Value through IT Leadership
IS&T Elective Courses
Three IS&T courses equivalent to the elective courses that are permitted in SISAT’s master’s degrees.
Non-IS&T Cognate Minors
Six non-IS&T courses, one of which is the required transdisciplinary course. The courses must form two “minors” of 12 units each. A minor is a group of three related courses from a discipline other than IS&T, such as art, cultural studies, health, economics, education, management, mathematics, political science, religion…
 
(Courses taught by SISAT faculty members, even those cross-listed as TNDY courses, will not fulfill the transdisciplinary course requirement for SISAT PhD students.)
