Program

The Executive Management Program (EMP) of the Peter F. Drucker & Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management offers executives, from both mid-career and beyond, programs in strategy, leadership, core business management, and non-profit management. Applicants must demonstrate professional experience and the potential for contribution to the program’s participative learning environment.

The modular format of the Executive Management curriculum provides participants with a flexible, highly individualized educational experience. The curriculum, much of which is offered in two-unit, seven-week evening and Saturday sessions, covers the concepts, concerns, functions, and processes essential to the practice of management.

Degrees Offered

Professional Development

Students who are admitted into the program participate in a customized Executive Management Assessment and Coaching process.  Components consist of a battery of assessments along with a series of Executive Coaching sessions.  Working with an Executive Coach, the student creates a professional development plan which supplements, supports, and informs academic advising, career counseling, and the ongoing coaching process. Participation in the process helps students identify current skills, strengths, gaps, and opportunities for professional growth and provides a context for charting growth and progress as they work toward a degree or certificate and the achievement of professional goals.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the Executive Management Program is possible at the beginning of any of the six seven-week sessions offered each year.

The Executive Management admission process involves careful examination of each applicant’s managerial experience, academic background, and professional and educational goals.  Applicants must demonstrate, except in cases of unusually rapid advancement, at least five years of mid-to-senior-level management or professional experience.

Applicants must submit an application, a current résumé, a statement of career goals, three letters of recommendation, and official copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts, including a transcript indicating completion of a bachelor’s degree granted by an accredited college or university. Applicants to the executive program are also required to participate in an interview with a member of the admissions team. For international applicants, scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) are required.

The Drucker School welcomes experienced executives from other CGU departments for enrollment in Executive Management classes. To enroll in EMP classes, CGU students must meet the program’s admission requirements and must obtain the approval of both their program advisor and the director of the Executive Management Program.

Complete details about CGU requirements are provided in the Admissions  and Student Resources - International Services  sections of the Bulletin.

Dual Degree Programs

Students who wish to pursue the Executive MBA along with another master’s or doctoral degree at CGU should refer to dual degrees  in the Academic Policies - Registration & Enrollment  section of the Bulletin.  Dual Degree programs allow students to earn two degrees at less cost and time than would be the case if the degrees were pursued consecutively or individually.
